Dastan estimates each player's expected points. SmartPlay Solver turns those projections into a legal squad, transfers, line-up, bench order, captain and chip plan, then adds the context of your current team and mini-league. You get a specific recommendation and the reasoning behind it, not just a ranking table.

The prediction model and the optimisation engine are both open source, so the important parts are inspectable rather than hidden behind a score. SmartPlay also works from your real squad and the rivals you choose, and can switch between protect, balanced and chase objectives. The model evidence, paired benchmarks and known limitations are published at /under-the-hood.

Yes. Dastan publishes its code, trained weights, six-season training data, feature contract and evaluation harness. SmartPlay Solver is a separate open-source package that can use Dastan or your own projection table. Both repositories include reproducible examples and are linked from the sections above.

It reads the leagues linked to your FPL ID and compares your squad with the rivals who matter. Captain coverage, template gaps and differential exposure then shape the recommendation: protect a lead, maximise expected points, or accept more variance when you need to chase.

No honest tool can guarantee rank. What we can show is a clean walk-forward test on 17,622 player-gameweeks across 24 gameweeks the model had not trained on. Dastan improved both ranking quality and points error over the previous recipe, and beat FPL's ep_next on identical eligible rows. The full results and caveats are public; your judgement still matters.

You still play. SmartPlay recommends; it does not log in to FPL or change your team. Use it for every decision or only for the calls you want help with, then accept or override the plan before you make any move in the official game.

Yes. Link your current FPL ID and SmartPlay starts from the squad, budget, chips and mini-league position you have now; nothing needs to have been set up in GW1. A Half Season option is available for managers joining later in the campaign.

Start with free launch access through 30 September 2026 (every account gets at least 10 free days), no card required. If you want to keep access after that, checkout runs through PayPal. SmartPlay plans are one-time payments: Full Season is $20 until the end of the 2026/27 season; Half Season is $10 for the first half of it (through December). Half Season customers can upgrade to Full Season later for $10 to get the rest. There are no recurring payments and no auto-renewal.
